Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Management Studies started functioning from 1993 as Department of Management Studies with a vision to provide quality professional education for aspiring young boys and girls. Practical atmosphere to learn varied business subjects along with thorough theoretical training is offered for academic achievements and corporate careers. Vision

Location

Located at the heart of the city in Indiranagar and quarter kilometer close to HAL II Stage Bus terminus on the 100 Feet Road, with buses connecting all destinations in and around the City & Cantonment area, far from the madding crowd with an excellent ambience for studies. The campus is large and spread over 3.25 acres.

Library

The College Library is a gateway to a world of information. The Staff and students have unlimited access to the wealth of information found in resources like books magazines, journals and statistical data base encyclopedias and the Internet. In addition, an e-library has been set up for e-journals accessibility.

The Institute has an exhaustive collection of books. The Library subscribes to several periodicals. It also receives newsletters and annual reports of public and private sector organizations. The Library provides reference, indexing and bibliographical services in Management literature.

Scope of Master of Business Administration

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a Post Graduate Degree in Business Administration, Which attracts people from a wide range of academic disciplines.

India is one of the many countries that has grown and is growing rapidly in the Industrial aspect, thus the demand as well as popularity of business related courses also took a rapid jump. MBA is one of the popular as well as widely chosen courses amongst the other entire business related courses.

An MBA Degree is one of the most sought after degrees in the world because of its value to people in business and administration. Irrespective of the industry or profession that anybody is in or regardless of the condition of the economy of one’s country, an MBA degree can benefit those in positions in business and management, especially those in executive and managerial positions.

An MBA is a career accelerator across a number of industries and MBA Graduates can usually command higher salaries.

This is because MBA has its own values that make it superior to other courses, and hence it has wide scopes and job prospects. The Scope of MBA Graduate is unparalleled. Apart from attractive pay packets and placements being offered at College level itself, it opens doors to various sectoral opportunities. The Indian Corporate World has seen many MBA Professionals occupying top slots in the Corporate Ladder.

MBA is one of the well appreciated professional courses in Modern World and it closely competes with professional courses like Medicine Engineering Agriculture and Law.

There are many students who opt for MBA for many reasons -The prime reason could be the economic reforms and the development of commerce which would have created numerous job opportunities. MBA also enriches the professional approach towards business and certainly has become a substitution for the conventional methodologies of trade.

Master of Business Administration

Course Design
Our MBA course is two year full time programme spanning over four semesters, affiliated to the Bangalore University and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)

Facilities
1. Well lit classroom with comfortable furniture, White Boards, LCD, OHP and other teaching aids for conducting classes are available.
2. Adequate parking place for Two Wheelers & Four Wheelers
3. Well equipped Computer Lab
4. The Institute has well furnished Seminar Hall, fully equipped audio-visual room for guest lectures, complete with a mounted slide and LCD Projector, video projectors and monitors.

Eligibility
Candidates who have secured at least 50% aggregate marks in their Bachelor Degree examinations of the Bangalore University or any other university recognized as equivalent there to are eligible to apply

Specialization
The students can opt from major specialization (6 Papers) coupled with a minor specialization (4 Papers). The institution provides facility for dual specialization (5 Paper each) A student can choose such combinations which will help him/her to have dual specialization depending on the subjects offered in the specialization scheme

Admission
Candidates who are selected for admission to the MBA programme in Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Management Studies must indicate their acceptance by paying the first installment of fees as detailed in the letter of admission before the date stipulated therein. If the payment is not made, the management reserves the right to cancel the admission

Interview and Selection
Candidates short-listed will be called for a personal interview. The formal selection will be based on the performance in the qualifying examination and personal interview.

The Faculty
Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Management Studies employs qualified and experienced faculty drawn from the Major streams of management practice. Through personal attention and guidance, the committed faculty members groom the budding executives to provide excellent service to society. Part-time and visiting faculty members enrich the course content with additional inputs.

Industrial Exposure
The summer training programme, project assignments, seminars by experts from industries and leading management institutes, and industrial visits expose the students to real life technical and human problems encountered in organizations. Apart from summer projects, students have to complete mini projects and practical assignments for selected topics. This enables them to observe prevailing methods and practices in organizations, and relate them to the knowledge gained in the classroom and through readings. Seminars aim at generating and evaluating alternative solutions to management issues. The students are thus prepared to encounter with confidence the situations in their professional career.

Training Beyond Curriculum
The training methodology aims to equip young minds with a global outlook to face the challenges of tomorrow and at the same time ensures that they are guided by set of values and beliefs that reflect the Indian ethos. The management, staff and the very atmosphere itself are geared to attain this goal. This is achieved through an all round development of the intellectual, social, physical and spiritual spheres of the students. The innovative education methodology adopted by the college assists the students in developing independent thinking, a creative outlook and a balanced point of view.

Fees
All fees will be paid along with tuition fees at the time of admission. Once admitted these fees will not be refunded under any circumstances. Students discontinuing during junior term will pay the full term fees.

Attendance, Progress and Conduct

Students shall attend lecture classes, seminars etc. during the semester as prescribed by the University and not absent themselves from work without adequate reasons.

Students shall be considered to have completed the attendance requirements if they have attended not less than 90% of the number of periods in each of the subjects.

Students who do not satisfy the attendance requirements of the University will not be permitted to appear for University Examinations.

Minimum for Pass

A candidate shall be declared to have passed MBA examination in each semester if he/she obtains not less than 50 percent marks in each of the theory papers including internal assessment and 50 percent in the aggregate of all papers including internal assessment.

Those who have scored 50 percent marks in any theory including internal assessment need not necessarily appear again for that paper. If a candidate falls short of 50 percent marks in the aggregate of all papers including internal assessment.

Those who have secured 50 Percent marks in any theory including internal assessment need not necessarily appear again for that paper. If a candidate falls short of 40 percent marks in the aggregate though he/she had secured 35 percent marks in all papers etc. he/she may select any papers of his or her choice to reappear, to make good of the deficit of 40 percent marks in the aggregate.

A candidate could continue his/her studies in the next semester irrespective of number of papers in which he/she has passed in the previous semester exams, provided he/she has satisfied attendance requirement in the previous semester course and appeared for previous semester examination.

The Applicants for enrollment are to be accompanied by the following:

1. Original Marks Cards and Xerox copies of the same of the qualifying examination.
2. Transfer Certificate from the institution last attended.
3. Migration Certificate in respect of other University students.
4. The Candidate who have passed the qualifying examination from any other University/Board outside Karnataka should pay the prescribed fee for eligibility at the time of enrollment.
5. 4 passport size colour photographs.
